CHAIR W2: "FLUID MECHANICS AND CABIN SYSTEMS; AIR CONDITIONING"

The post is permanent and full-time. Staffing is intended at 1st March, 2023 earliest.

YOUR ROLE

You will provide excellent teaching in the field of "Fluid Mechanics and Cabin Systems; Air Conditioning" with a strong focus on practice. You will design and run classes on the simulation-based design, integration and testing of cabin systems (fluid mechanics) and in particular air conditioning systems on the Bachelor and Masters Aeronautical Engineering programmes and on the Mechatronics programme. You will also design and run classes on basic engineering on all programmes at the Department. If required, you will give your classes in English. Ideally, you will be involved in developing the "Advanced System In-tegration and Testing" and "Advanced Mechanical Cabin Systems" modules on the Masters programme. You will also supervise final year dissertations and other projects. You will take a major role in the further development of the programmes on which you teach.

Alongside teaching, you will engage in applied research and development work together with partners from both higher education and industry, and be instrumental in initiating such partnerships. You will work with other disciplines and departments at HAW Hamburg on continuing professional development for university teaching staff. You will also be involved in institutional self-government bodies.

YOUR PROFILE

You have a physics or engineering degree (aviation, aerospace, physical engineering, mechatronics, mechanical engineering or related disciplines) and a doctorate in a relevant field. You have practical professional experience in aeronautical engineering and aeronautical systems engineering, in particular in design, integration and testing of cabin systems.

You ideally have previous teaching experience and an interest in the use of modern university teaching methods. Ideally, you have several years' experience of industrial research practice and are able to apply this as appropriate to collaborative, applied, externally funded research at the University. You are prepared and able to guide and successfully to lead diverse working groups.

INFORMATION

For appointment as a professor, as well as the general staff requirements, the appointment requirements in accordance with Section 15 Para. 1-6 of the Hamburg Higher Education Act (HmbHG) also apply. These can be read on our website.

This includes the willingness to participate in the self-administration committees of the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences as well as a choice of residence in proximity to the university.

The denomination of the vacant post is under the caveat of assessment at appropriate intervals in accordance with Section 12 Para 7 HmbHG.

As well as the basic salary of grade W2 and basic performance benefits, a provision of appointment performance benefits is also possible which can be negotiated with the university president. In addition, there is also the possibility of granting a bonus from third-party funds.

Candidates who have not yet reached the age of 50 at the time of appointment may be appointed as tenured officials, otherwise the employment relationship is that of a standard employee.
